Vital Villages - Salla Village Tour

Vallovaara Village Area

The village was established after the II World War for the people who had to leave their homes on the side of the beautiful lake Kuola in old Salla when the border line with the Soviet Union was changed. Because the village was not formed ”naturally”, the houses are scattered around the area along small roads, and there is not a real center on the village. Today Vallovaara is still a lively village. Environment is ideal for hiking, picking berries and for hunting. Hunting association hires a cabin near the dance place (see number 2).
