These sculptures were built by volunteers as a part of The Barents Road, the longest Art Route in the world. Trans Barents Highway Symposium of Art project was creating a 1500km long Art Route from the Norwegian coast through Sweden and Finland to the Murmansk city in Russia during 2003 and 2004.

From Salla village 17km to Savukoski direction. Just before a bridge there is a parking place on the right, and the willow sculptures are on the left side on a meadow. There is also a sculpture named “Father and seven sons” 9km from Salla to Savukoski direction, on the right side of the road (with a sign).
